Oh, the weather outside is frightful… NOT!

And there’s no fire, either!

What. Is. Going. On? It’s close to 70 degrees. Yesterday, it was over 70. I’m trying hard to stay in the spirit of Christmas, though.

By inhaling candy cane Hershey kisses, that’s how! Oh, yeah!

And I’m trying to help you stay in the spirit, too. I’m sending you snow… along with the cheese balls. Holiday cheese balls. A Snowman cheese ball and a Christmas tree cheese ball. I hope they make you smile!

You can make them. Here’s how –>Holiday Cheese Balls

We’re still partying!

Hello, party animals! Sorry I didn’t mix and mingle as much as I should have last night. Bad, bad host! In my defense, I did warn you it was Chinese New Year and we were going to Chinatown. A trip to Chinatown always takes longer than you think. First of all, traffic was horrendous. Didn’t these people know I had a party to go to? Make way, people, make way, grr….

Then, of course, it took us half an hour to get parking. We could have gone to a garage and pay the big bucks I told you about, but after calling it ridiculous it’d be hypocritical to do it. I deserved to suffer like the rest of the PARP (people against ridiculous prices). It’s a new club I’m forming. There’s no fee to join.

Too bad we didn’t see the lion dance. Turned out the dance and parade took place on New Year’s Eve (Thursday), duh! But as usual, food was amazing. How is it that you can never replicate restaurant Chinese food at home? Restaurant Chinese food, especially the one from Chinatown, is always superior than home-cooked Chinese food. That doesn’t sound right, but it just is. And Sang Kee swore it didn’t use MSG.

I interrogated our waiter. He was adamant no MSG was used. I believed the poor guy. I think he thought I wrote for the papers or something, with my “professional-looking” camera. He was so serious while I was just playing around. I really didn’t care if they used MSG. It was Chinese New Year, and I wanted to eat well.

I hope everybody had a fabulous Friday. Did you guys mix and mingle while I was gone? I hope so, that’s what you’re supposed to do in a party. Strike up a conversation, get to know each other, etc. And since this is a blog party meant for us to SHARE what gets us in the mood, I hope you use this opportunity to comment on each other’s post. Give each other support to keep posting and blogging. I find that engaging in a conversation and connecting with my readers and fellow bloggers is the most sustaining part of my blogging adventure.

But if you didn’t have the chance to do that or if you didn’t come to the party last night, you can still do it in the next several days. We’re still partying!

In the meantime, your host here has to make more appetizers. People really gobble them up fast! And since I promised I wouldn’t do any cooking, I used the microwave to make these potato-stack appetizers. Microwaving is not really cooking, is it?

All right, I’m getting better at this! At not feeling guilty about succeeding in the art of deception. The deception part itself, I’ve already mastered a long time ago, starting with my blog name. If you’ve been following me on my Zero to Hero journey, you’d know what I mean. Today’s assignment, by the way, is to add widgets to your blog. I added a new one, my avatar/Gravatar, whatever it’s called. Right there on the side bar ——> I have since removed the gravatar, since it looked too cluttered.

Unless, of course, you’re on your mobile device, in which case, it’ll appear down below. Can someone show me how to make an arrow pointing down?

Fiesta Friday #363

Fiesta Friday #363

While shocking images coming out of DC were being broadcast all over cable networks, I was quietly busy in the kitchen trying out recipes from our Fiesta Friday friends. And for that, I was immensely thankful. Nothing eases my mind quite like baking. The Sweet Potato Scones above were inspired by Jess’s Sweet Potato Biscuits. […]

Fiesta Friday #362

I’m getting ready to make a leftover-steak salad. The inspiration came from Petra’s Steak Salad, featured down below in the Features section. To go with the salad, I’m thinking of making the Persimmon Vinaigrette, also featured below. Then… and it’s a promise, I will go to the store and get sweet potatoes. To make Jess’s […]

Happy New Year, guys! Don’t forget to eat your donuts. For good luck! Or black-eyed peas. Or collard greens. Or pomegranate. Or pork. Or whatever your family tradition is. It’s all cool. Over the years, my family has adopted several of these fun traditions, so I figure we’ll do …uh… everything! We’ll eat a little […]

Fiesta Friday #360

Hello, Fiesta Friends! Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones! May your socially-distanced holidays be filled with joy and hope. And may you and your family continue to be safe and healthy. Also, world peace! I just want to say that 😄 Last year around this time I was at Disneyland, enjoying Pineapple Dole […]

Fiesta Friday #359

A Nor’easter brought the first snow of the season. How quickly things changed! Last weekend I was getting quite the workout (read: I was sweating) raking leaves in the garden with temperatures downright warm at 60 degrees. I’m glad I had the opportunity to clean up out there before the storm came. I expect my […]
